I am using this gate to block off a room to contain a young Jack Russell-mix terrier. He is a moderately skilled escape artist. He could climb over the typical, plastic baby gate. Since this gate just has vertical bars, he can't climb it. I haven't had to use the screw-in hardware so far. The compression fittings work just fine.

The latch is easy to operate, and the bidirectional gate is a nice feature. It's a bit tricky getting used to stepping over the bottom rail, and I have to remember to warn visitors. The setup was a little bit confusing but not impossible, and it went together fine.

It was a bit more expensive than I wanted to spend, but it's been worth it, since it's well-manufactured, attractive, and effective.

i did a lot of research, as i do with most things i buy on amazon! usually, i'm very pleased with my purchases and this was no exception. as far as baby gates go, this looks great! it was not the easiest thing to put together, but was able to put it together and get it up in the time my kiddo took his nap. i was a little concerned that the pressure mount would not stand up to my kiddos holding on to bars and shaking back and forth like they're in jail! =P but... the gate is very secure and sturdy. the only reason i gave it 4 stars was because, as i mentioned above, it was not the easiest thing to put together! once it up, its awesome!

We bought two gates, one for the top and bottom of our stairs. Not only do they look good (we receive lots of compliments on them, not something I expected about baby gates!), but they are strong, solid, and good quality. They installed fairly easily in the two places, including at the extra wide top of the stairs (too wide for two other types of gates we tried), using the pressure holds. I have no worries about our kids pulling them down, they are very secure. The latches work well and will be impossible for my small kids to open, even if they can figure out how to do so. The hinges are made so that little fingers can't get pinched, and the gates open conveniently to either side. I wouldn't have bought any other type of gate, these are worth the money.
