About this product
The Pacific Salt is made of H1 steel, a PH steel, meaning it is a precipitation hardened steel. The blade has the trademark SpyderEdge. All internal steel parts are treated as well making them impervious to rust and pitting and salt. The blade's hole is enlarged to 14mm for easier opening/closing with gloved, wet or cold hands. I use these for work. I am a commercial diver in the Gulf of Mexico. I have yet to see one of the rust up. The hard steel keeps an edge. Knife is good for just about any situation you can imagine.

This is a terrific knife. I work with large, up to 5" diameter synthetic hawsers ("rope" to you landlubbers) and wanted something to carry in case I ever had to saw through one. At the same time, I wanted something manageable in size for everyday carry, that was flexible in its uses, was light, and rustproof. Thats the Pacific Salt to a "T". The aggressive serrations will cut through anything with ease, and at the same time, I like the point and little bit of straight blade at the end for the everyday mundane tasks like cutting boxes or something. I havent quite tested it with salt water directly, but in the offshore environment at least, it has failed to rust.
This knife is light and thin, and I forget its in my pocket. It is large, but one handed opening comes easy with a little practice. Someone mentioned the opening circle being a little rough, mine was too, but easily filed it down to a nice touch. My only caveat is that I switched from a CRKT Crawford Kasper that I've used for the past 6 years, which felt much nicer in my hand, with a smoother opening and more solid feel to it. I also perfer the CRKT's little knob on the side to open it, instead of the circle, again, to the touch it just feels better. I wish this Spyderco had some of those things, but at the same time I don't doubt its capability and the Spyderco may be the better all-around in the end for its purposes.

I like Spyderco knives. They are high quality, easy to open and close with one hand, and many models are quite affordable. This one is no exception.
The Salt series is designed for use in diving, sailing, etc marine environments. This Pacific Salt model works for all sorts of daily tasks too. At first, it could seem rather large - the serrated blade is close to 4 inches. However, it is very light for its size due to the thin nylon plastic handles. Overall, this is like a rust-proof version of the Spyderco Endura, if you are familiar with that popular model.
Have a look also at the Atlantic Salt model. Its tip is not as sharp, so it would be safer to use as a rescue knife, Its shape makes it less likely to inadvertently stab a person or something else. I personally prefer this Pacific Salt model since its shape is more universally useful.
