I have had three Foodsaver units over the past 10 years. They worked great at first, but eventually all became worthless. The problem is that eventually they stop pulling a good vacuum, due to a poor air seal. I tried to keep the gaskets clean and well-seated, and cleaned up food spills, but the same problem kept recurring. Each was used very sporadically, maybe only about 20 times until failure occurred. This was enough to get me hooked on the concept of vacuum sealing, but not long enough to make the purchase worthwhile. I can't say if the Foodsaver brand is better or worse than the other "consumer-grade" vacuum sealers out there, but ultimately it is a disappointment.

First, I had to replace a different vacuum sealer because it stopped vacuuming the smaller pre-made bags, and I use those a lot.
I picked Foodsaver because it was a name brand (the previous one was not).
However, next time I'll look closer at the features. This does not have variable suction or variable sealing. It's slower (and louder) than my old one, but so far that's OK. On the plus side, yes, it vacuum seals the pint-sized bags.
I would not buy this one again, but I don't feel the need to replace it any time soon.
