I work in a professional kitchen and use my knife 5 hours a day 5 days a week. I use this for about 95% of the work I use a knife for. I would invest in a diamond steel and a couple good waterstones to keep it razor sharp. I only sharpen my knife every 2 months or so. I love the fact that the handle and the blade are all one piece. Others have said these are heavy and the handle is slippery. I have found neither to be true. I do not have trouble keeping it sharp either as some have said about Global knives. I think the trick is not to use your knife for a scrapper on your cutting board. The blades on knives are not designed to be scrapped sideways across a board.

Sometimes you run into a tool that just balances and handles beautifully, when you pick it up it seems to know what to do. This knife is one of those tools.

Coming from 18 years of using French style knives in institutional feeding operations I was apprehensive of the lightweight and narrow bevel at first but daily use proved that my worries were misplaced. This knife and the two other pieces I have of the same brand displaced my cherished Sabatiers as my go to knives. The lighter weight meant less fatigue while the all metal dimpled handles guaranteed no cracked nor slippery grips when working with oily foods. Am not really sure about the claims about longer keeping edges. I cannot verify since I keep my knives sharp all the time (like a good chef should).

The knives have a reputation that preceeds them. So, no comment is necessary for that.

I wanted to point out that one should never use any method but "Super Saver" unless the item absolutely, positively must be there the next day. I ordered five Global knives very late on the evening of the 15th and they will be arriving on the 17th. That's essentially "Next Day".

When you think about it, Amazon and UPS (et al.) gain nothing by delaying your order. Once you have ordered and paid, the inventory becomes a liability to them. It's much wiser and economical for them to get rid of it (ship it to you) ASAP to make room for other stock. They aren't going to say "Gee, this guy _wants_ it in 5-7 days, we can't ship it yet!!!"
